Classic regattas,
A unique sense of camaraderie and fun.
Carrina is not designed to be a fast racing machine, more a safe and reliable cruising yacht. But in more windy circumstances she’s a competitor one should be aware of.
In the early Twenties long distance racing and cruising was then growing in popularity. Fred. Shepherd designed in 1930 Lexia which was the first British yacht to finish the 1931 Fastnet Race. Nine years later Shepherd designed Amakora , a speedy vessel having the maximum possible accommodation in a 50-footer, and suitable for both cruising and handicap or ocean racing on occasion.
We like to take part in classic sailing regatta’s, mostly they combine competative gentleman’s racing with several social events. Regattas may be organized as championships, but are often held just for the joy of competition, camaraderie, and general promotion of the sport. And that’s what we appreciate.
